Life Candles
Overview[edit]
First alluded to in Lesson 35-5 (OM), Life Candles are kept in a chamber in the deepest part of a Reaper's Cave, as explained by Satan. The candles represent the souls of all humans, demons, and angels, and are a means for reapers to monitor and individual's lifespan. When a candle starts to go out, this means the person is nearing death, so the reaper goes to harvest their soul. Touching a candle could accidentally shorten that person's life, as Solomon warns in Lesson 36-12 (OM).
Life Candles are colorful and sparkle like jewels because they are made from a special kind of sparkling wax known as essence of life, according to Solomon in Lesson 36-14 (OM). No two candles sparkle in the exact same way.
Story[edit]
Main Story and Events[edit]
In Lessons 35 and 36, The seven brothers plus MC and Solomon visit the Reaper's Cave to check on Beelzebub's life candle. They were worried that he might have angered the reaper after he accidentally broke the cursed record "The Hymn of the Reaper." At the cost of shortening their own lifespans, each of Beelzebub's brothers, as well as MC, donate some of the essence of life from their own candles to his. Doing so causes his candle to revert to its proper length and stabilize.
