Lesson 51-1

Meowcao is one of the top two casino towns in the Devildom. It was first mentioned in Lesson 50-14 (NB), and Mammon likes to refer to it as "the town where dreams come true." The town's name is likely a parody of Macau, and likely why many dishes in Meowcao seem to be inspired by Portuguese cuisine.

Overview[edit]

Meowcao can be reached both by train and by boat, as mentioned in the chat Majority Rule?. Much of the town's technology is courtesy of the Three-Legged Crow Group, including their communications infrastructure, as mentioned in Lesson 51-A (NB). The town is home to numerous casinos and gambling halls, and in addition to gambling games also seen in the Human World, Meowcao has its own dice game known as Meowcao Dice, as seen in Lesson 52 (NB).

In addition to numerous casinos and gambling halls, the town has food stands, shopping malls, theme parks, and other such tourist attractions, as mentioned in Lesson 52-7 (NB). There is also traditional Meowcao clothing sold in shops here, as are rare magic items. All of the shops have some kind of gambling theme, as Belphegor noted in Lesson 52-9 (NB), such as drawing straws to decide a price, or having to beat the store staff at rock, paper, scissors to make a purchase.

Leviathan mentioned in Lesson 51-1 (NB) that there are several Devildom anime titles that have settings inspired by the town, most notably including Gambler Kitty Would Rather Be Napping.

Meowcao is known to be the home of many demons who oppose both the Demon King and Diavolo, including those what are upset that now angels and humans are being allowed to stay in the Devildom. This can make the town less than safe for both the royal family and those known to support them, as shown in Lessons 51 and 52 (NB).
