Nightbringer is a mysterious demon that is the reason behind MC being sent into the past in Obey Me! Nightbringer. He was first mentioned by name in Lesson 8-16 of Nightbringer's Main Story, though he is said to have many names.

Story[edit]

Main Story and Events[edit]

In Lesson 8-16 (NB), a spirit by the name of Adam possessed Mammon when he, MC, and the other brothers were looking for an evil spirit in the Devildom's mausoleum. This spirit told MC that he was looking for hist lost love when he encountered a demon, who he begged to help him. The demon said he could not, but promised that one day another would appear that could do as Adam asked if he allowed the demon to take him to the place where that would happen.

This demon was Nightbringer, who knew that one day MC would come to the mausoleum and find Adam, and knew also that MC would have the Ring of Light in their possession. After MC does as Nightbringer promised Adam they would, and opened the Celestial Realm gates so he could reunite with his love, Adam gave MC a message from Nightbringer: "It's not yet time for you to return."

In Lesson 22-6 (NB), MC found a picture book on one of RAD's library's high shelves that contained within it a version of the same story seen in the introduction of the Nightbringer game itself. The story began as follows:

"Once upon a time, there was a demon who could see both past and future. With a flurry of trumpets from his king, the demon appeared."

The story continued to tell of the demon finding a crying human, who he promises to take to "a place that will bring you more joy than any other." The human thanks him and promises to pray to the demon every night, then asks for the demon's name.

However, all of the pages from the second half of the picture book are missing, including the demon's name.

The brothers were certain the book refers to "Nightbringer," and Asmodeus mentioned that Satan found Nightbringer's name in a book from the Celestial Realm as well. The book regarded "the father of demons," which is what Nightbringer is called in the Celestial Realm. This is because apparently, Nightbringer was the first demon to be born into the world.

According to Mephistopheles in Lesson 33-6 (NB), there is a legend that the land the House of Lamentation was moved to was once Nightbringer's home. Rumor has it that another building once existed on this land, and the rooms of this building would rearrange themselves nightly.
