Great Celestial War
Overview[edit]
The Great Celestial War is the name given to the war between a still angelic Lucifer, his brothers who allied with him, and their father. The exact date of the Great Celestial War is uncertain, though it must have occurred at minimum several thousand years before MC arrived as an exchange student in Devildom, given Satan's age and the fact that his creation happened after the war.
Story[edit]
The Inciting Incident[edit]
The cause of the Great Celestial War began with Lilith, the youngest sibling and only sister of the seven brothers. Lilith was loved by all her brothers and was especially close to Beelzebub and Belphegor.(source?) Whenever Belphegor snuck out of the Celestial Realm, Lilith would follow him, slowly developing an interest in humans just like him.(source?)
As time went by, Lilith fell in love with a human, hiding the fact that she was an angel from him.(source?) However, the man whom Lilith loved eventually became mortally ill. In an attempt to cure him, she took food from the Celestial Realm and fed it to him; a forbidden act, as angels are not allowed to alter a human's life.(source?) Once their father found out, Lilith was sentenced to be obliterated.(source?) This sparked the rebellion between the Celestial Realm and the seven brothers.
The Battle[edit]
In Lesson 6-1 (OM), Beelzebub told MC the story of how Lucifer "incited a revolution" against their father, and that his five brothers aligned themselves with him. In the midst of the battle, Beelzebub saw angels from the opposing side aim their bows at both Lilith and Belphegor. The three of them were too far apart for him to save both, so as Beelzebub rushed over and shielded his twin, Lilith's wing was pierced by an arrow. She fell from the heavens mortally wounded, something that Beelzebub blamed himself for. The war eventually ended when their father "crushed [their] rebellion, and cast [them] out of the Celestial Realm."
The Aftermath[edit]
After his defeat, Lucifer tore his own wings from his body in a fit of rage, thus resulting in the creation of Satan.(source?) Lucifer and his now six brothers were all demons, and from that point forward were to live within the Devildom.
While the six younger brothers believed Lilith had died at the end of the war, instead she had also fallen into the Devildom.(source?) Diavolo told Lucifer that he would risk interfering with the Celestial Realm's judgment by saving Lilith, but only if Lucifer pledged his loyalty to him.(source?) Lucifer agreed, and Diavolo then had Lilith reincarnated as a human who lived a happy and fulfilling life without any memories of her former life.(source?) Lucifer did not tell his brothers that Lilith still lived due to the condition that they were not to contact her, and felt that he alone should carry the burden.(source?)
