Synopsis
Summary
While decorating the House of Lamentation for Christmas, Mammon and MC have an awkward conversation about the meaning of Christmas where Asmodeus, Satan, Beelzebub and Lucifer all seem to struggle to recall the Holiday. Later when Leviathan, Mammon, and MC are shopping, they remark on how odd the shopping list from Satan is, lacking anything Christmassy. The topic turns to how the other brothers were acting earlier, not referring to Christmas by name. They encounter Simeon who tells them Solomon and Luke have completely forgotten about Christmas and wants to know if their household is experiencing the same thing. Mammon thinks so to Simeon's surprise.
Leviathan decides the best approach is to start asking people directly if they know what Christmas is. He and MC first encounter Belphegor, who when asked says he wants a giant death jellyfish plushie for napping with Beelzebub and MC showing he remembers the holiday. Belphegor is also surprised to hear others have forgotten about Christmas. While they chat, Asmodeus and Satan arrive, and when asked they cannot recall what Christmas is. Leviathan declares this confirms the memory loss. Belphegor proposes asking Barbatos and Diavolo what is going on.
Diavolo and Barbatos remember Christmas and find the apparent memory loss the others are experiencing troubling, saying it could end the holiday for good. They decide that steps must be taken to return the missing memories. They gather everyone who remembers what Christmas is (MC, Mammon, Leviathan, Belphegor, Simeon) to work to save everyone's memories of Christmas (specifying those shared with MC). They all don Dark Santa attire to help determine if others remember Christmas by testing if it is recognized while moving about in public.
Back at the House of Lamentation, MC tests the memories of Lucifer and Solomon. The two recognize the costumes as Santa and say it feels like their knowledge is being hidden from them and they are aware that they are forgetting about Christmas, however, others have forgotten more. They also agree to join in investigating why some are losing memories and what could be causing it.
In town, Simeon and MC encounter Mephistopheles who is out shopping for gifts for his brother but does not recall the holiday and only has enough of a vague sense to want to purchase gifts. Meanwhile, Luke has baked many cakes and he and Raphael are struggling to remember what for. Solomon proposes giving them a nudge, so MC reminds them of the holiday and the four discuss what might be happening. Solomon remarks he bought an advent calendar for Barbatos some time ago and must have lost his memory after that. In town, MC encounters Thirteen, who does not remember the holiday but warns them there is nasty-feeling magic flowing between the Human World and Devildom.
After investigating, Diavolo reveals that all of those who remember Christmas had eaten a treat from a magic advent calendar of Barbatos' that was shared, and it is everyone else who is forgetting. Unfortunately, the treats have all been eaten by the Little D.'s so there is no way to investigate the calendar further. Luke recalls Solomon bought the original calendar from the human world and it is decided everyone will go to there to investigate.
In the human world, everyone decides to try to make more memories to replace what has been lost by experiencing Christmas in the human world. They visit a Christmas market and wander the city enjoying the decorations helps jog memories of Christmas. Simeon even takes a photo with a child who wants a photo with Santa. While the decorations help in the moment, memory loss persists. Eventually, they hunt down the store the advent calendar came from and find the store a mess, tracking the magic signature they find a box containing some of the missing memories. This allows them the return of a full day's memories.
Searching the store for more boxes, the brothers recall Asmodeus decorating a tree with images of himself, while Satan wanted one decorated with cats, leading to them each decorating a tree that year. One tree was just based on memories with MC. Luke and Beelzebub recall a year they baked 100 cakes with MC because they couldn't decide what to make. In the back of the store, they find a wooden wardrobe with magical power. When opened it releases a dark aura from which seven Christmas guardian spirits emerge.
The spirits reveal they don't like how much fun everyone is having and are upset about how much more they are enjoying Christmas with MC, so they sealed everyone's memories, thus causing Christmas in the Devildom to fade away. Leviathan, MC, and Mammon agree the ghosts are jealous. After discussing, the brothers demand their memories back, angering the ghosts and being cursed so Christmas never ends. After several days of Christmas in a row, everyone is depressed and discusses how to break the curse. While in town, Solomon and Simeon note that regular demons are noticing the day repeating. Raphael joins them and MC encourages him to sing something to lift people's spirits about the repeating holiday, which works phenomenally. Later MC encounters Thirteen who also voices her frustrations over the repeating holiday.
Frustrated, MC summons the ghosts, and they challenge the brothers to a Christmas date showdown where the winner gets MC. Asmodeus and Satan take MC on a shopping date in the human world. Though the ghost copies of the brothers' personalities are off, MC ends up focusing on the real Satan and Mammon. Later the fake Leviathan tries giving MC a snow globe but MC likes the real Leviathan's music box better. Mammon and the fake Mammon take MC ice skating but get in a fight almost hurting Luke, but Mammon saves him, attracting MC's attention. Beelzebub and Belphegor agree to a snowball fight and remark that their fake counterparts' personalities are switched. The fakes lose badly, and they all end up making snowmen with MC. During his date, Lucifer steals all of MC's attention from his duplicate.
At some point during the contest, the ghosts get it in their head to attempt to abduct MC as it would be faster. They are stopped by Simeon, Barbatos, and Diavolo who are displeased by this and remind the ghosts of their promises as well as warning them not to look down on them or MC. They discuss the possibility the ghosts have fallen for MC and allude to what could happen if the ghosts truly decide to abscond with MC.
In the end, the brothers achieve an overwhelming victory, and the ghosts are angry threatening to take over their lives. Barbatos and Solomon decide that a fight is an order, and it is best to move back to the Devildom.
Normal Ending: Back in the Devildom, Diavolo, Barbatos, Luke, Simeon, and Solomon decide they will no longer idly watch the dispute. They intend to make the ghosts enjoy Christmas. Diavolo summons a whole Christmas village that blends human and Devildom Christmas in front of the castle.
The ghosts go on to enjoy the village, which is noted to contain a Christmas market and amusement park, thus helping dispel their jealousy over never being able to participate in the past. To make sure they get to spend time with MC without monopolizing MC's time, Diavolo, MC, Simeon, Solomon, Barbatos, Luke and the ghosts go to deliver presents all over the Devildom and human world. This reminds the ghosts of the true meaning of Christmas. Later, the brothers are jealous of the fact they missed out on the experience.
Special Ending: Back at the house of Lamentation the brothers decide they won't take being trapped in a world of eternal Christmas so the ghosts can take over their lives lying down and MC proposes reminding the ghosts what Christmas is really about. Everyone comes together to celebrate, dividing MC's time amongst them; Beelzebub and MC pick out a tree. Asmodeus, Mammon, and MC decorate the tree. Barbatos, Simeon, and MC pick out presents, which Leviathan, Belphegor, and MC wrap. Luke, Diavolo, Satan, and MC make a Christmas cake to rival the size of the tree. Lucifer sorts the presents delivered by others and teases MC about getting so many. In the end, the festivities are extravagant, and the ghosts are so excited they start dancing and return the stolen memories. Christmas is saved and everyone enjoys a meal of cake and perdition fried chicken, while the ghosts make snowflakes shaped like ornaments fall, something Satan remarks is rare.
