Santa was first mentioned in the Devilgram Here Comes Santa Beel. He was described by Lucifer as "the man who distributes gifts to children in the Human World every year." As seen in multiple Devilgrams, Santa delivers presents every Christmas using a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer.

It's unclear if Santa lives in the Devildom, the Human World, or somewhere else entirely. It also has not been specified if the role of Santa was originally filled by a human or a demon, nor is it known what species the current Santa is.

There is a happiness-devouring demon called Dark Demon Santa, but this demon is not the same being as Santa, despite the similar name. Dark Santa is an individual mentioned in the Pop Quiz Presenting Perfect Memories, and he is apparently also not the same individual as Santa, nor as Dark Demon Santa.

Appearance[edit]

Santa was described by Mammon in the chat Santa? as "that old man with a white beard and a suit," so it seems that Santa has an appearance similar to how the traditional Santa Claus is depicted.

Title and Duties[edit]

"Santa" appears to be the name an individual adopts when they obtain the role of Santa Claus. In the Devilgram A New Santa Is Born!, Satan mentioned that "Santa Claus is actually a highly sought-after position" and that there are likely "no shortage of demons who are after the job."

Despite MC saying in the Devilgram Christmas Tree that Santa only gives presents to human children, in the Devilgram At the Mercy of Reindeer, Mephistopheles mentioned that some of the presents Santa was meant to deliver that year were intended for demon children. Barbatos also mentioned in the chat Caught By Barbatos that "denizens were eagerly awaiting Santa's arrival," implying this wasn't the first year that Santa delivered presents in the Devildom.

Helpers[edit]

Due to the large scale of the task of delivering so many Christmas presents each year, Santa is known to receive help from others. These include the flying reindeer that pull Santa's sleigh, and also elves who work for Santa as seasonal assistants. Many of these elves work at a toy factory in a Christmas town, as was mentioned in the Devilgram Snow Globe Sentiments.

There is also a yearly volunteer Santa assistant from the Sorcerers' Society, and Solomon was the volunteer assistant one year in the Devilgram Christmas Magic Galore!. This volunteer accepts a portion of the total Christmas presents in need of delivering, and assists Santa by delivering said presents.

Story[edit]

This section may include spoilers.

Santa has either requested or otherwise needed the help of others in doing his gift-giving duties several times, including in the Devilgram Here Comes Santa Beel, when he injured his back trying to repair his sleigh. At Diavolo's request for assistance, Beelzebub and MC helped Santa out by choosing and wrapping presents.

In the Devilgram A New Santa Is Born!, Santa's reindeer went on strike, and again Diavolo requested assistance for the situation. As the reindeer were on strike due to concerns about Santa's age and condition, Lucifer, Satan, Luke, and MC delivered the Christmas presents that year, under the condition that Santa found a successor before next Christmas.

Diavolo, Mephistopheles, and MC had to contend with reindeer attempting to deliver presents without Santa in the Devilgram At the Mercy of Reindeer. Apparently the successor Santa "took off on a vacation" but did not return in time for delivering the Christmas gifts.
